Convention 2011 will be in Valdosta, February 10-12
Bishop Benhase receives overwhelming support for his three guiding principles: unashamedly proclaiming the Gospel; serving the lost and the left out; and being excellent stewards of gifts God has given. A summary of delegates' responses to his address will be posted later this week.
Bishop Benhase to be keynoter at this week's Convention of the D.R. our companion diocese. He flies out on Thursday and will return next week. Then on February 19, nine EDOG members, led by the Rev. Tar Drazdowski, will begin their trip to discover possible mission opportunities.
First Annual Absalom Jones celebration will take place at St. Matthew's, 1401 MLK, Jr. Blvd in Savannah on Saturday, February 13th, beginning at 10 a.m. The dramatic portrayal of the story of Absalom Jones and Richard Allen is a first for the diocese. The Rev. Billy Alford, rector of St. Alban's, Augusta, will preach.
Lent begins next week with Ash Wednesday on February 17th. A good evangelism tool: update your website with Ash Wednesday service times and make sure they and directions to your church are easily found on your site.
